“Shelter In Place” After Gunfire Reported At US Capitol; Female Suspect Killed

The U.S. Capitol was in lockdown, after reports of shots fired outside. A woman attempted to ram a security barrier near the White House and then was involved in a police pursuit that ended near the US Capitol.

According to U.S. Capitol Police, there was one injured US Capitol police officer involved in the pursuit and a related car crash. No police were injured from the shooting exchange.

Alert sirens are activated in the Capitol, and people in the area were told to “shelter in place.”

The incident involved a police chase that ended near the US Capitol. The drivers exited was shot by police when she attempted to run over a secret service agent. The female suspect was killed near the US Capitol.
