Red Light Violation Telephone Scam Reported in Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove police received a report on Tuesday October 15, 2013 of a telephone fraud scam in the block of 600 Checker Drive Buffalo Grove, IL. The complainant reported a scam that involved an offender impersonating a Cook County Sheriff official. He stated he received a phone call from a caller who claimed to be a Lieutenant with the Cook County Sherriff’s Warrant Division. The complainant was told that he had a warrant for a red light camera violation and needed to deposit money into an account. The complainant realized it was a scam and ended the call.
