Prospect Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:55 PM Wednesday to a report of a power line struck by a semi-trailer truck at the Prospect Heights Grill, 1600 North Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the truck hit the power line and that the line was hanging very low over Thomas Street and over the sidewalk north of Thomas Street.
No injuries were reported and there was no arcing or fire reported.
Owner Amy Johnson said she heard a loud crash from the back of the restaurant. She thought Something fell in the kitchen, but when she went to check on the well-being of her daughter everything was okay in the kitchen. Then she discovered that a semi-trailer truck hit a power line that was placed across Thomas Street. The collision with the power line snapped I wood mast that supported the electric service line to the restaurant.
Thomas Street remained closed between Rand Road and Dryden until about 3:20 p.m.
Com Ed Is returning tomorrow to restore the service drop line to the restaurant. Amy Johnson just wants to say sorry to her customers that the restaurant will be closed tomorrow, but they’re expecting to be open on Friday.
