CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

Potential record high temperature for September 10 today in Chicagoland with dry air moving. Some areas may reach 100°F, but the record high for Chicagoland is expected to be 97°F today.

Record high at Chicago O’Hare International Airport for September 10 is 95°F (1983).

Record high at Chicago Midway International Airport for September 10 is 95°F (1983).

The air temperature last night at midnight was 85°F at O’Hare International Airport. The overnight low was recorded at 6:51 a.m. at 77°F. Temperatures were recorded 80°F or high up until 4:51 AM.

The highest temperatures today at about 97°F are expected to be about 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Temperatures tonight are expected to be in the 80s much of the night, but not quite as hot as last night.

The humidity is expected to drop, which is partly the reason there is no Heat Advisory in effect. Heat still has the potential to affect the elderly and children — especially in schools without adequate air conditioning. Conditions may get dry enough for a Red Flag warning day for wildland fire risk.

Chicago weather radar is mostly clear this morning. Most of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana and Michigan are clear of clouds. Some patchy clouds are located over the northwest suburbs and west suburbs of Chicago this morning.
