Bond Set at $750K for Attempted Murder Suspect Donald Stellato, of Arlington Heights


At a bond hearing this morning at Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows, bond was set at $750,000 for Donald Stellato, 1718 West Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, as he is held on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Unlawful Restraint. If Stellato is able to post bond, he will be required to wear an ankle monitor.

On Sunday, September 22, 2013, at approximately 2:30 a.m. the Barrington Police Department encountered a 44 year old, female, Crystal Lake resident during a traffic stop. She reported being a victim of a domestic battery in Arlington Heights. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The Arlington Heights Police Department investigated and learned the victim had been in the company of her former boyfriend/offender earlier in the evening. While they were in the offender’s home, they began arguing and the offender began striking her about her face and head with his fists. She attempted to leave several times, but the offender physically forced her to remain at his home. The offender placed his hands on the victim’s throat and attempted to strangle her and attempted to smother her by placing a pillow on her face. She was able to escape from the offender’s home and left the area in her vehicle. She has been released from the hospital.

The offender was located at a relative’s home in Arlington Heights and transported in custody to the Arlington Heights Police Department where he has been held.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the investigation and approved the listed charges.
