Stolen Auto Reported, But Vehicle Reappears Later at South Goebbert Rd Parking Lot, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 6:01 AM Monday of a stolen auto in the block of 2100 South Goebbert Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders took a gray 1999 Chevy Malibu 4-door.

The vehicle was fully owned by the victim and no payments were due. Police checked all tow logs in the area. Police also thoroughly helped the owner check the parking lot. The vehicle reappeared in the parking lot after police left the scene.

According to the owner, there was new dirt on the tires and fenders. The incident was reclassified from Vehicle Theft/Stolen Auto to Criminal Trespass to Vehicle.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Sunday June 16, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. and Monday June 17, 2013 at 6:00 a.m. The time frame that the vehicle was returned was not available.
