CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

VIDEO: Crime scene at Birch Manor Condominiums after a shooting and manhunt for three or four offenders that fled the scene after the shooting Thursday night.

COOK COUNTY, IL – Cook County Sheriff’s Police are investigating a shooting which injured two men last night in unincorporated Mount Prospect, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.

Just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, Cook County Sheriff’s Police received a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Dempster Street.

Officers located a 24-year-old man, with gunshot wounds, lying on the ground outside the front entrance of a condominium. A 22-year-old man, also suffering from gunshot wounds, was located inside the condominium.
Both men were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Officers and a bloodhound team searched the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the offenders.

Nearby suburban police departments also responded and assisted Sheriff’s Police at the scene.

Based on the information gathered at the scene and from witnesses, investigators believe three to five unknown men were involved in the shooting, which appeared to be drug related.

Sheriff Dart asks anyone with information about this incident to call Sheriff’s Police at 708-865-4896.

Mount Prospect police and Cook County Sheriff’s police responded about 8:55 PM Thursday to a shooting near Dempster Street and Linneman Road Mount Prospect, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics responded to a shooting in an condo/apartment complex in the 700 block of Dempster Street — the Birch Manor Condominiums.

The offender(s) fled the scene and police are actively searching the area. At least one Cook County Sheriff’s police K-9 unit is on the scene.

Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics transported at least one victim to a local hospital. The shooting scene was secured about 9:07 p.m. when firefighter/paramedics were permitted to approach the confirmed gunshot victim.

Police investigators are on the scene and vehicles were not permitted to enter or exit the apartment complex. Residents were allowed to walk to their residences, and were allowed to walk away from their residences.

Initially the offender was described as a male/black who fled along the Commonwealth Edison right of way and toward Robert Frost Elementary School. There was also a report that there were three male/white offenders that ran eastbound from the scene. One was wearing a black long T-shirt, and another was wearing a white long T-shirt with a hat. A subject was also described as wearing red shorts and a gray T-shirt. The suspects were also described as possibly male/Hispanic with dark skin — one wearing a dark shirt with the word La Crosse on the front. Last night it was believed that one of the offenders that fled may have also been shot.
