Telephone/Credit Card Fraud Attempt On North Chestnut Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 10:30 AM Wednesday of telephone/credit card fraud in the block of 100 South Chestnut Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Arlington Heights police received a report that a 70-year-old resident received a telephone call from an unknown subject claiming they had a $10,000 federal grant in the complainant’s name which did not have to be paid back. The complainant was asked for his credit card number to pay a processing fee. The potential victim gave their number but canceled the card immediately after thinking the whole incident was suspicious. No funds were lost.

The crime is reported to have occurred at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
