CHICAGO BEARS RADIO -- WBBM Newsradio 780 "Traffic on the 8's"

Alert residents and responsive, dedicated police action highlight an example of police-community crime work in the capture of four suspects in a residential burglary and at least one vehicle burglary in Schaumburg. In two separate cases this week, Schaumburg Police patrol officers responding to reports of suspicious activity, located suspects in the area and linked them to crimes that had just occurred. On Monday February 25th Stephen L. Brown (Male/Black, 18-years old, dob: 03-21-1994, last known address: 921 Cardiff Ct., Schaumburg) and a 16-year old Schaumburg juvenile were each charged with one count of felony Residential Burglary. Today, Friday March 1st Joseph M. Robie (Male/White, 22-years old, dob: 01-24-1991, last known address: 190 Farmgate Dr., Schaumburg) and Glenn R. Frost (Male/White, 20-years old, dob: 08-29- 1992, last known address: 1560 Spruce Ave., Hanover Park) were each charged with one misdemeanor count of Theft and one misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle.

Shortly after 10am on Monday Feb. 25th an alert neighbor saw Brown and the juvenile twice climb a fence into a rear yard and enter/exit the rear of a home on the 900 block of Cardiff Ct. The neighbor felt this was suspicious and called 9-1-1. Responding day watch patrol officers located Brown and the juvenile nearby. Through their investigation officers determined these subjects had just committed a residential burglary. Felony Residential Burglary charges were approved by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. Brown appeared for a bond hearing in the 3rd District Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows on Tuesday Feb. 26th while the juvenile was remanded to the custody of the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.

Shortly after 11pm yesterday, Thursday Feb. 28th, another alert resident in the area of Cabot Lane called 9-1-1 to report two suspicious persons who appeared to be breaking into vehicles. Responding midnight watch patrol officers located Robie and Frost. Through their investigation, officers determined that the subjects had just unlawfully entered at least one vehicle and stole property from within.

The case was reviewed with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. Robie and Frost were each charged with one misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle and one misdemeanor count of Theft. Both subjects were released on bond.

Members of the public are reminded that this arrest and complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
