Scam Alert for Medicare Telephone Fraud to Acquire Social Security Number

Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:21 PM Thursday of telephone fraud and possible identity theft from a victim that lives in the block of 1200 North Village Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that the complainant received a telephone call from an unidentified male subject claiming to work for Medicare. He asked for the subject’s Social Security Number so he could access her account. After she gave him the number he advised she would be contacted by a nurse. The potential victim realized this incident was suspicious and she called 911.

The crime is reported to have occurred at 8:20 p.m. on March 7, 2013.
