Theft Commercial Building: Copper Wiring Worth $50k Gone from Conduit on Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:45 PM Wednesday of a theft from a vacant commercial building at 703-709 W. Algonquin Road. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders entered the vacant property after defeating a padlock. All the ceiling tiles were found taken down and broken. The offender(s) removed all the 800 MCM cable (copper wiring valued at approx. $50,000) from the conduit. Special machines would need to be used because of the wire length and weight.

Copper cable that is 800 MCM is 0.8 inch in diameter.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2:45 p.m .and Wedensday, December 26, at 2:40 p.m.
