Detached Garage Fire Discovered By Police on Rohlwing Rd, Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows police on patrol discovered 5:49 AM Tuesday a garage fire about 1:47 p.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Rohlwing Road. Police called for the fire department for the fully-involved garage fire. The garage, set back in the backyard caused heat damage to the house in the front, and to a house next door. Siding melted on the two additional exposures, but no structural damage was reported to the structures on the west side of Rohlwing Road just south of Euclid Avenue.

There were no vehicles in the garage, but a large amount of contents were destroyed in the garage — valued at $10,000. The garage destruction and damage to the home is valued at about $35,000.

Firefighters had three lines flowing water at the scene to protect the exposures and fight the fire. Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Palatine and Palatine Rural FPD assisted Rolling Meadows firefighters. Many of the extra firefighters were quickly released. No injuries were reported.
