High Flames Showing on a Mulch Pile Fire; Trailer Damaged on Devon Ave, Elk Grove Village

Elk Grove Village police, Cook County Sheriff deputies and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:52 PM Wednesday to a mulch pile fire at 212 East Devon Avenue. Firefighter/paramedics received a report of a mulch fire in a 20-foot pile of mulch with flames about 6 feet high.

First firefighters on the scene reported smoke showing. Firefighters had an barn exposed to the much fire and immediately set up a deck gun on the fire. High-tension power lines were also exposed directly overhead. At least one trailer was seriously damaged in the fire.

About 400 feet of 5-inch hose line was stretch out for the fire. The fire was reported the fire was under control about 4:15 p.m.

Com Ed arrived on the scene about 4:20 p.m.
