Schaumburg Police Apprehend Mail Box Bashers in Black Pickup Truck on Weathersefield Way

Schaumburg police responded about 8:39 PM Monday to a report of criminal damage to property “in progress” near Beech Drive and Kenilworth Drive. Police received a report that teenagers in a black pickup truck were hitting mail boxes with a baseball bat. Three or four teens were in the pickup truck and one of the teens with blond hair was leaning out of the pickup truck. Possibly some of the teens were in the bed of the pickup truck.

One police officer immediately reported he had just passed the vehicle heading westbound from Springinsguth Road — before the call was dispatched.

Police received a second report that a black 4-door pickup truck with an extended cab was headed westbound on Langley from Summit Drive with teens leaning out of the truck and striking mailboxes with a bat.

A Schaumburg Park District ranger spotted a pickup matching the description westbound on Weathersfield Way from Roselle Road. Police converged on the vehicle as the pickup truck approached Cedarcrest Drive. The suspects vehicle was stopped just before 9:00 p.m. on Weathersfield Way, just west of Cedarcrest Drive.

Police transported at three male/juveniles to Schaumburg Police Department Headquarters in custody. A fourth suspect may have been released to his parents — not confirmed. Some victims were reported to be signing complaints against the suspects.
