LATE REPORT: Hail After Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Tuesday

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at about 2:10 a.m. The thunderstorm produced moderate lightning, gusty winds and pea-size hail in Arlington Heights.

Brilliant lightning was visible in the north as storms approached from Wisconsin, but the storm weakened as it approached Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs. Hail the size of tennis balls hit Green Bay earlier on Monday, July 30, 2012.

So far this summer has been the warmest summer since 1921 with an average temperature of 77.5°F.
