VIDEO: House fire in Ottawa at Leonard Avenue and Sunnyside Avenue started as a grass fire and spread to two homes.

Firefighters responded about 7:45 p.m. Saturday to 128 Hopewell in Old Ottawa South. Downed power lines may have started a grass fire that eventually engulfed one home in flames and also burned a second home on Saturdsay about 7:45 p.m.

Ottawa Hydro, the electric power company, had to cut power in the neighborhood for safety concerns during firefighter operations. Over 1300 electric customers lost power.
