Two men, later identified as Davis G. Dawkins, 19, and Duwayne Henderson, 19, allegedly entered the Palms Internet Café, 8444 SW State Road 200, and began threatening patrons with a handgun and a baseball bat about 9:52 p.m. Friday, July 13.

In a takeover style robbery attempt, the two offenders, wearing masks and hoodies, order approximately 30 patrons to get on the floor. “Don’t none of you [expletives] move,” one of the teens yelled at the café patrons. The offenders demanded money.

Surveillance video released by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office shows Williams seated at a computer in the corner of the café. He is seen standing up and pulling out a .380-caliber handgun. He then fires his weapon at the offenders, who scurry out of the business.

The offenders fled in a vehicle that was parked nearby. Later the offenders allegedly concocted a story that they were shot at Scott Carrigan Baseball Park on Southeast 17th Street in Ocala. Police Department officers resonded to the baseball field, but found no evidence of a shooting there, according to Marion County sheriff’s officials.

Davis Dawkins was grazed in his left arm. Duwayne Henderson was shot in his left buttock and his right hip.
