Attorneys Michael LaMonica and Erron Fisher delivered about 1:30 p.m. Friday a stop work order to Union Pacific workers and other workers while they were cleaning up wreckage at the scene of a fatal train derailment on a bridge over Shermer Road, just south of Willow Road. The crash at the Glenview-Northbrook border killed Burton and Zorine Lindner in their car, which was southbound under the bridge when the derailment occurred about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Union Pacific has stated they believe the train derailed, and that the pileup of loaded train cars caused the unexpected weight to collapse the bridge over Shermer Road. The Lindner’s vehicle was found almost directly under the former bridge, and under tons of weight of coal and layers of wrecked railroad cars.

Judge William Maddux issued the order to stop all cleanup work at the crash site for 36 hours. The attorneys delivered the stop work order just short of 48 hours after the freight train derailed, and apparently, caused the bridge collapse. The attorneys are working for the family of the Glenview couple, Burton and Zorine Lindner. Burton R. Lindner was the founding and senior partner of Lindner & Lindner, a Chicago law firm that specializes in personal injury, workers compensation, real estate, business law, contract disputes, and family law. Burton Lindner began his own law practice in 1975. LaMonica worked with Lindner’s firm and recently started his own firm, and shared office space at Lindner’s office location at 150 S. Wacker Drive. Zorine Lindner worked as a social worker.

Neighbors react after the crash, and police hold a press conference before the vehicle was discovered under the train wreck and collapsed bridge.

Vehicle extracted from the crash scene and transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office with the bodies of Burton Lindner and Zorine Lindner inside the vehicle.
