Schaumburg police and firefighters/paramedics responded about 7:28 p.m. Monday to a pallet on fire outside of Winston Churchill Elementary School, 1520 North Jones Road. Firefighters also received a report that the flames were starting the window on fire at the school. The fire was at the rear of the school.

Firefighters used forced entry to extinguish the fire, which was mostly held to the exterior of the school. The school was locked and closed for an asbestos removal project. Fire command immediately recognized the asbestos removal project and ordered all personnel to wear SCBA air tanks and breathing protection.
