Brian Herrera, Tyler Montgomery, Alexis Banuelos Killed in Crash with Semi-Trailer Truck on Schlapp Rd, Oswego

Oswego Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police responded about 3:15 p.m. Monday to the intersection of Schlapp Road and Route 126 (E Schoolhouse Road) for a crash involving a car and a semi-trailer truck.

Apparently Herrara was driving a Ford sedan southbound on Schlapp Road and either tried to beat the eastbound semi-trailer truck or failed to stop. A two-way stop sign exists for Schlapp Road.

The crash killed Brian Herrera, 19, of Plainfield, Tyler Montgomery, 19, of Plainfield, Alexis Banuelos, 18 of Naperville. Brian and Tyler were killed at the scene. Alexis was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where she was pronounced dead.

A prolonged accident investigation was ongoing past 10:00 p.m. Monday.
