UPDATE: A male juvenile has been charged with aggravated arson and was in custody Friday.

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:54 p.m. Friday to an activated fire alarm at Schaumburg High School, 1100 West Schaumburg Road. Police were first on the scene, in a minute, and reported a fire in the woodshop at the back of the school. Police reported the fire was extinguished, but that there was a lot of smoke in the hallway. Firefighters also reported the fire was out, and immediately went to work ventilating the building.

Students were allowed back into the school building by about 1:27 p.m. Friday, except for students who had classes in the area of the fire. Those students were staged in a school lobby.

A fire investigator/photo unit was requested to respond to the scene to photograph the origin of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
