The Chicago Swim School and Culver’s restaurant are the first businesses to open at the newest shopping center in Arlington Heights — “2020 on the Highway” at 2020 East Northwest Highway. Developer Nick Papanicholas of president of Mount Prospect-based Nicholas & Associates developed the site.

The Chicago Swim School offers lessons to children 6 months to 13 years, and recently moved from its Arlington Heights location at Avalon Apartments at Eastman Street and Dunton Avenue. The new pool in Arlington Heights at 2020 East Northwest Highway is 30×60 feet, and is four feet.

Arlington Heights is the headquarters for Chicago Swim School, which also has locations in Glenview and Oswego.

Another main feature of the new shopping center is Culver’s — a privately owned and operated fast casual restaurant chain that operates primarily in the Midwestern United States. The first Culver’s opened in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin.

Culver’s has an expansive menu that features Culver’s trademark ButterBurgers, frozen custard (which is also sold in bulk), and its own brand of root beer. The rest of the menu runs the gamut from pork and fish, fried chicken to salads and specialty sundaes. The Culver’s at 2020 on the Highway is the first Culver’s in Arlington Heights, and features an outdoor eating patio and a drive-thru.

An outlot building on the west side of the property will feature a Sherwin-Williams paint store.

The rest of the main building is mostly filled with contracts underway.
