Arlington Heights police received a report about 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 of a wallet theft from a purse at Panera Bread, 31 S. Evergreen Avenue.
Police received a report that male and female offenders sitting at the next table were involved in theft of a blue leather wallet from a purse placed under the table. The wallet contained cash, driver’s license, several credit/debit cards and a checkbook. The victim placed the purse under the table while eating lunch. The male offender’s chair backed up to the victim’s chair. At one point he leaned down as if picking something up off the floor.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP YOUR PURSE CLOSED AND IN FRONT OF YOU WHILE EATING AT A RESTURANT. CONSIDER PURCHASING A PURSE HOOK WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO HANG YOUR BAG FROM THE TABLE NEAR YOUR LAP. IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR AN OFFENDER TO GET INTO YOUR PURSE WITHOUT YOU KNOWING.
