In an effort to curb the spread of influenza-like illness to detainees, staff and visitors, the Cook County Department of Corrections, in consultation with staff of Cermak Hospital, has started taking measures to contain the illness according to the Office of Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

Currently all detainees in Division 1 are in a no movement status and will not be allowed visitors at this time. Anyone who is planning on visiting detainees in Divisions 4 or 5 are in a limited movement status. As a result, the Sheriff’s Office is asking that if anyone is planning on visiting a detainee in Division 1, 4, or 5 should first call the Sheriff’s Office at 773-674-7244 to confirm that the detainee will be allowed movement.
