POLICE PURSUIT in West Suburbs After Aggravated Assault Against Chicago Police in Chicago

State police and Cook County Sheriff police were in pursuit about 11:30 p.m. Friday of a white U-Haul van with front-end damage. The drivers of the van had a history of aggravated assault with a vehicle in Chicago. A police helicopter is involved in the pursuit. The pursuit was on-again and off-again for at least 30 minutes. The pursuit began about 10:45 p.m. when Chicago police saw a stolen U-Haul truck near 1800 West Erie Street, Chicago. The offender struck a Chicago police vehicle with the U-Haul and eventually fled. Police eventually observed the vehicle eastbound on I-290, but did not engage it.

Police terminated the pursuit near Irving Park Road and Wright Boulevard.

Addison police picked up the pursuit at about 11:44 p.m. Friday on westbound Lake Street passing Miller at 80 mph.

Westbound Lake Street passing I-355 about 70 mph.

Westbound Lake Street in the eastbound lanes near Medinah — Bloomingdale police joining the pursuit.

Westbound Lake Street passing Roselle Road at 11:49 p.m. last seen westbound Lake Street from Gary Avenue.

Pursuit terminated at 11:50 p.m.

Itasca police units in pursuit of vehicle on eastbound I-290 from Thorndale at about 80 mph at 11:58 p.m. Pursuit terminated about 11:59 p.m. on eastbound I-290 near Lake Street.

Elmhurst police sighted the vehicle on eastbound I-290 passing Route 83, and the vehicle was last seen on eastbound near I-294.

Hillside police observed the vehicle eastbound on I-290 at Mannheim Road.

Forest Park police sighted I-290 passing Harlem Avenue at 12:08 a.m. Saturday.
