Palatine police responded about 3:05 a.m. Saturday to Durty Nellies, 180 North Smith Street, to meet a male acquaintance of a female who reported she was sexually assaulted in a taxi cab. At first the male friend did not know where the female was, but a few minutes later the male got a call from the female, and the female also called 9-1-1 to report she got out of the cab at a location in Rolling Meadows.
Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded to help the female in Rolling Meadows, and Palatine Police responded to Durty Nellie’s and to the location in Rolling Meadows.
The woman reported to police that she fell asleep in the back seat of the cab and woke up to find the cab driver allegedly in the back seat with her with his hands on her body and her clothing loosened. The cab driver had parked the cab in the parking lot of the old Dominick’s location, 2600 Kirchoff Road. The woman paid the cab driver $20, got out of the cab, called 9-1-1, and met police and paramedics in the parking lot.
The crime is reported to have occurred after the woman withdrew cash from a Chase Bank ATM, because the driver said he didn’t accept credit card payments. The woman had been picked up by the cab from Durty Nellie’s about 2:00 a.m.
After further investigation, Palatine police arrested Mohammed N. Choudry, 47, of the 1000 block of North Sterling Avenue and charged him with criminal sexual abuse.
Choudry is scheduled for a court appearance on March 1, 2012. He was held on $50,000 bond at Rolling Meadows Cook County Circuit Court.
