EVENTS ON FEB. 11TH, 18TH AND 25TH

February is Heart Awareness Month, and Northwest Community Hospital is holding three events in Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect that will help the community increase its knowledge of heart health and get on track to feeling its best.

The first event, called “Feeling Good the Heart Healthy Way,” is free on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the hospital’s auditorium, 800 W. Central Road in Arlington Heights. Enjoy a delicious sampling of heart-healthy foods, a gift bag and raffle prizes while learning how to take better care of your heart.

Attendees will find out how to assess and reduce their risk of developing heart disease, and discover why a heart-healthy diet doesn’t have to be boring. Park in the Visitor Garage on the east side of the campus, and enter the hospital through the East Entrance.

Two identical “Know Your Numbers” events will take place on Feb. 18 and 25, giving community members opportunities to find out exactly where they stand when it comes to heart health. For a $10 fee, attendees will learn their cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure levels. Those numbers can then be entered online at nch.org/heartaware for a comprehensive heart risk assessment.

Both “Know Your Numbers” events run from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the NCH Health Center in Mount Prospect, 199 W. Rand Road. For accurate results, the screening requires fasting for 12 hours in advance.

Space is limited, so registration is required for all of the NCH heart events by calling 847.618.4YOU (4968) or signing up online at nch.org.
