January finishes with the mild characteristics of Winter 2011-2012. After a fall tat recorded 80°F, today marks the tenth time Winter 2011-2012 has hit 50°F or higher. That’s about twice as many 50-degree days as average.
Monday the high hit 67°F in St. Louis, Missouri and 60°F in Peoria, Illinois and 53°F in Chicago.
The record high for January 31 is 65°F recorded in 1989. It doesn’t look like we will hit it today, as it has clouded up.
Fall 2011 was warm, as well with five days in the 80’s in October, two days in the 70’s in October and one day at 69°F.
