VIDEO: Rollover crash on northbound Route 53, south of Palatine Road.
Palatine firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police responded about 2:20 p.m. Sunday to a two-vehicle crash with rollover on northbound Route 53, just south of Palatine Road. Emergency responders received a report that one car was on fire and that people were trapped. First firefighter/paramedics on the scene reported no entrapment and no fire. The crash involved a small sedan, which rolled over, an GMC SUV and possibly the guardrail.
A second ambulance was requested from Rolling Meadows Fire Department, but both patients with non-life-threatening injuries were transported by Palatine Fire Department firefighter/paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital.
All lanes of northbound Route 53 were blocked for about 15 minutes during crash rescue operations. Firefighters and police worked to get one lane open so traffic, which was backed up past Northwest Highway on northbound Route 53, could proceed.
