Police Pursuit Ends on Irving Park Rd, Itasca; Shots Fired by Carpentersville Police, Suspect Injured

Schaumburg police joined Carpentersville in a pursuit about 1:01 p.m. Tuesday after Carpentersville police notified area police departments that they were in pursuit of a suspect that tried to ram undercover police vehicles during an arrest. Police shot at two suspects as they fled a McDonald’s parking lot on Route 25 in Carpentersville during an attempt to arrest two suspects during a drug sting. One suspect was arrested at the scene in Carpentersville. The other suspect fled, and a pursuit began.

Police were reported to be pursuing a green Cadillac (was actually a tan Cadillac) with broken out windows. A male/black suspect was driving. Carpentersville lost sight of the vehicle near Salem and Golf Road during the pursuit which was reported to be as fast 100 mph. Hoffman Estates police spotted the vehicle eastbound on Bode Road approaching Roselle Road about 1:07 p.m. and continued the pursuit. Hoffman Estates lost sight of the vehicle southbound on Roselle Road from Bode. Schaumburg police then spotted the vehicle eastbound on Schaumburg Road from Roselle Road.

While approaching Meacham, the suspect made a U-Turn and headed westbound on Schaumburg Road. The suspect then turned southbound on Waterbury Lane from Schaumburg Road. Eastbound on Scully Drive then southbound Lundy Lane. The suspect was then southbound on Summit from Southport. The suspect was then southbound on Plum Grove Road approaching Wise, then Nerge, then Irving Park Road. The suspect then turned westbound on Irving Park Road about 1:13 p.m. and then made a turn into a Marathon station. The suspect then went eastbound on Haddendorf, and then southbound on Prospect in Roselle. Next, the suspect was eastbound on Irving Park Road at Maple, then passing Walnut, and then passing Bloomingdale. The suspect then suddenly pulled into a parking lot at Prospect where a McDonald’s is located in Itasca. At about 1:20 p.m. police announced the suspect was in custody at Irving Park Road and Prospect in Itasca. Police also called for paramedics. Police declared that all police officers were safe and not injured at about 1:23 p.m. Schaumburg police cleared the scene as other police agencies had the scene secured.

Report of one injured victim transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. No word yet if a suspect was hit by a bullet.

Elk Grove police also stood by at Elk Grove intersections with Stop Sticks (Spikes) but the pursuit did not head in their direction.
