The Arlington Heights Police Department recently completed enforcement activities relating to the Illinois Department of Transportation’s designated “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday enforcement campaign. The campaign began December 19, 2011 and ended January 01, 2012. During the campaign, ten (10) four-hour DUI Roving Saturation Patrols were conducted. The primary focus was to identify and apprehend motorists who chose to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and those committing licensing, equipment and other miscellaneous Illinois Vehicle Code traffic violations. All activities took place between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

Enforcement efforts resulted in the following cumulative arrests and citations: two Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol arrests, 26 speeding citations, four uninsured motorist citations, and 38 other miscellaneous Illinois Vehicle Code violations.

The Arlington Heights Police Department is committed to traffic safety and will continue to be an active participant in IDOT’s grant program by participating in the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
