Off Duty Police Officer, Clifton Lewis, Shot and Killed at M&M Quick Foods on N. Austin Blvd.

An off-duty Chicago police officer, Clifton Lewis, was shot and killed while he worked as a security guard at the M&M Quick Foods, 1201 North Austin Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The police officer was transported to Level I Trauma Center Stroger Hospital by Chicago Fire Department paramedics, and was listed in critical condition last night, and pronounced dead before midnight.


The shooter was described as “light-skinned” with “gang tattoos on his face,” according to a witness at the scene. The store is equipped with security cameras.

Multiple marked and unmarked Chicago police cars escorted Chicago Fire Department Rescue Ambulance 15, carrying the slain officer’s body to the medical examiner’s office very early Friday morning.
