A Dallas-area woman, Lauren Scruggs, has lost her hand and suffered other head and body trauma after walking into the propeller of a small airplane following a flight to view Christmas lights.

Lauren Scruggs, 23, suffered a severed hand and a slicing injury to the left side of her face and body after walking accidentally into a moving propeller at the front of an Aviat Husky aircraft she just exited at Aero County Airport in McKinney, Texas.

The aircraft had just landed and was schedule to take another person up for a tour of Christmas lights. The engine and aircraft propeller were left running as the passengers were transferring. Lauren may have been walking toward the pilot to thank him for the tour when the accident occurred. The engine of the aircraft is louder than the sound of the propellers moving, which are also practically invisible during spinning motion.

Lauren Scruggs was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and listed in serious condition with a skull fracture, a severed hand that required amputation, an injury to her left eye, and other head and shoulder injuries.

Scruggs works as a model and editor of her own online fashion magazine LoLo Magazine — http://blogbylolo.com.
