Barrington firefighters responded about 8:08 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a garage fire at 240 Weatherstone Road. Firefighters received a report that a neighbor saw fire in the garage attic/roof area. Firefighters first on scene reported fire showing upon arrival, and discovered fire had extended from the garage to parts of attic over the house.
Firefighters conducted a routine primary search, but with information that residents might have been inside the home. Firefighters later learned no residents were home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters chased the fire in attics and prevented major damage to the house. The vehicles in the garage below the fire also had minimal or no damage.
Extra alarm fire units responded about 8:19 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters from Buffalo Grove, Cary,Carpentersville, East Dundee, Fox River Grove, Hoffman Estates, Lake Zurich, Long Grove, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Wheeling and others assisted Barrington firefighters either at the scene or for fire station coverage.
Firefighters reported the fire was out about 9:33 p.m.
