VIDEO: Semi-trailer truck tipped on its left side after a rollover from the eastbound I-90 to southbound IL-53 ramp.
Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics, police and Illinois State Police responded about 8:07 a.m. Saturday to a rollover semi-trailer truck crash on southbound Route 53, just south of the Interstate 90 interchange.
Scrape marks and skid marks across all local lanes of southbound Route 53 show the truck slid across all lanes after exiting eastbound Interstate 90 to southbound Route 53/I-290. The truck was discovered tipped over on its left side against the guardrail between the local lanes and the express lanes of southbound Route 53.
The driver was able to get out of the truck on his own. The initial call for help reported that the crash was in the northbound lanes.
IDOT HELP trucks were also on the scene. Firefighters reported a minor fuel or oil leak. Firefighter determined that flour was being carried in the trailer of the truck.
The driver, who received some minor cuts and bruises, apparently lost control of the truck after entering southbound Route 53 from the eastbound ramp from Interstate 90, Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.
Slight traffic delays were experienced by travelers with the two left lanes of Route 53 blocked for an extended period. Hillside Towing responded with a large towing rig.
