Buffalo Grove police responded about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to a disturbance in the 500 block of Hawthorne Road. Police received a report that a man was interfering with a village-hired landscaping crew that was planting a new tree in the parkway.

The landscape crew was working to remove a dead tree and replace it with a new one on the parkway, and was confronted by a homeowner because he did not like the tree that was planted. The homeowner threatened to cut the tree down if the crew did not remove it. The crew left the area to finish the planting in the morning. Officer spoke with the homeowner who, after a long conversation agreed to stay in his house when the crew returns to finish the job.
