Small Cannabis Grow House Discovered During Emergency Medical Call on Colfax St

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded Friday afternoon to a report of a woman not breathing at a hom in the 1100 block of West Colfax Street. Marijuana smell was immediately noticed upon arrival of emergency crews. While paramedics were treating the woman, police found 11 cannabis plants, lights, fans, growing equipment and about one-half pound of cultivated marijuana.


The woman was transported to Northwest Community Hospital, and David Wasiewicz, 53, drove himself to the Palatine Police Department headquarters and admitted that he possessed the marijuana plants and equipment.

David Wasiewicz, 53, of the 1100 block of West Colfax Street, was charged with felony counts of production of cannabis and possession of cannabis. He was placed in custody at Palatine Police Department jail.

Wasiewicz is scheduled to appear in court June 24. His bond was set Saturday morning at $5,000 by Judge Edward N. Pietrucha.
