Mount Prospect police responded about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a possible domestic shooting at a home in the 600 block of Larkdale Lane. Police surrounded the home, and were checking to see if the gunman was still on the scene. Police opened a dialog with the suspect, who was inside the home. The suspect was in custody about 12:20 p.m. and police checked the home. A female was shot with a soft pellet gun very early this morning or late last night. She was checked by paramedics and is reported to have no serious injury. Police evidence technicians were working at the scene about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Prospect High School was in a soft lockdown until about 12:25 p.m. Access was limited to-and-from the school. School was in session for remaining Freshmen, Sophomore, and Juniors. School is out for the year on Friday. Timber Ridge School at 201 South Evanston Avenue was also in a soft lockdown. The incident on Larkdale in Mount Prospect was not connected to any of the schools, but the geographic proximity of the incident to the schools prompted risk reduction procedures.
The neighborhood just south of Bally Total Fitness and northeast of Prospect High School was blocked from traffic access for the safety of the residents and visitors of the neighborhood until about 12:25 p.m. Tuesday. The neighborhood borders with Arlington Heights, just east of Regency Drive East. Arlington Heights police are assisting Mount Prospect police.
