Electric Power Trouble During Morning Rush Near Thomas Middle School and Wing & Highland

#ad▼

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded to two locations about 7:50 a.m. Monday. First a report was called in by a crossing guard that a power line was arcing on the northbound side of Arlington Heights Road near Thomas Street. Minutes later police and firefighters responded to the area of Wing and Chestnut Avenue to a report of a blown transformer. Officials arrived and discovered heavy power lines down near Wing Street and Highland Avenue. Wing Street was closed down for repairs to the area.

Several businesses in the downtown area had power interruptions — some for just a brief time.

Several sporadic reports of electric line trouble were reported over the weekend throughout Chicagoland, involving arcing lines and even a pole fire. Extra wet and windy weather was probably the cause of the problem.
