Passenger Sarah Ginter in critical condition …
Kane County Sheriff, Batavia Police and Elburn firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:30 p.m. Monday to Green Road just south of Hughes Road near Elburn to a report of a car crashed into a tree.
Police and firefighters/paramedics upon arrival discovered a 1989 Dodge 4-door up against a tree. The driver of the vehicle, Lynlee Gilbert, 17, of Batavia was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva where she was pronounced dead. One passenger, Sarah Ginter, 18, of Batavia was transported to Delnor Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both girls required rescue extrication by Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics.
The accident is under investigation by a North Aurora traffic officer and member of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team. A Kane County Sheriff deputy was also investigating.
