Schaumburg police are looking for Raquel Bonilla, 16-years-old, who has been missing since Wednesday, March 2, 2011. She last communicated with her mother Wednesday with a text message at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 stating she was staying after school. Her cell phone was used twice in the area of southwest Schaumburg/northeast Hanover Park area, according to investigation of phone records. She has not used her cell phone since 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, and left her phone charger at home.

A police report was filed Wednesday night with Schaumburg Police Department.

According to Schaumburg police, interviews with people have shown obstruction of the investigation with false or misleading statements about contact with Raquel or knowledge about her whereabouts.

During the investigation, police received information that Raquel was dropped off at a train station by an acquaintance so that Raquel could travel to Chicago. However, there were also reports of sightings of Raquel in Schaumburg and Elgin between Wednesday and Friday.

Bonilla was not employed and does not have a driver’s license. The family believes she did not take any extra clothing with her.

Schaumburg police detectives are investigating a report from Bonilla’s family that Raquel had an online friendship with a Chicago area man in his early 20’s.

Raquel Bonilla is described as Hispanic, 5’5″ 170 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a medium complexion. A photo shows she may have a piercing with jewelry above her upper right lip and wears eyeglasses.

A Facebook Group (Groups Facebook page) reports that a large turn out of volunteers covered Schaumburg and other areas — posting the flier with Raquel’s information. Their goal is to get any leads “since the information we have is extremely limited.”

Schaumburg police urge any citizen, who has seen Raquel or has any information about location, to call the Schaumburg police Investigations Division at 847-882-3586.
