Texas Student from Saudi Arabia in Bombing Plot Against Former President George W. Bush

Saudi Arabian citizen going to college in Texas charged in suspected bombing plot.

The FBI has arrested Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a Saudi student, who was attending South Plains College, a small college near Lubbock, Texas, after an investigation by the FBI’s Dallas Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Lubbock Police Department. The FBI says he purchased Phenol and bomb components and kept a detailed journal outlining his targets, including the Dallas home of former President George W. Bush’s and dams in Colorado and California.

Aldawsari is expected to make his initial appearance in federal court in Lubbock at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning. Aldawsari, who was lawfully admitted into the United States in 2008 on a student visa and is enrolled at South Plains College near Lubbock, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.
