Water Main Break Near Dryden & Miner Causes Significant Road Hazard

Arlington Heights police responded just after 4:30 PM Saturday to a report of a water main break with extreme icy conditions near the intersection of Dryden and Miner Street. Police arrived to find heavy icing occurred along Miner Street and along Dryden. Police stood by a road hazard at Dryden and St. James. Two crashes occurred at Miner and Dryden.

The water main problem may have caused a problem with a water pump alarm at Lincoln Lane Condos in the 100 block of North Lincoln Lane. Fire equipment on the scene had a difficult time with icy road conditions on Miner Street.

Weather conditions reported at the time of the incident was 20°F with a wind chill of -3°F and winds up to 23 mph.
