Arlington Heights police received a report that an unknown subject contacted by telephone an Arlington Heights resident that lives in the 300 block of South Stratford Lane, and stated the resident had won 2 million dollars. To claim the winnings the offenders instructed the potential victim to send a service/release fee of $2,290.00 via Moneygram. The resident was also given a PIN number and Case number for the transaction. After the Arlington Heights resident hung up and realized the call was a scam, the resident received phone calls asking for their social security number and date of birth. The offenders explained that it would take two to three weeks to get their winnings. The offenders also provided Western Union office locations near their home. The Arlington Heights resident refused to give any information and told the last caller they were making a police report and to not call back.

The time of the call occurred on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 between 9:00am – 10:30am.
