Police Pursuit Westbound I-290, Northbound 53, Then Westbound Interstate 90 at 100 mph, Arrest in Rockford

VIDEO: Chopper 7 HD captured the chase and arrest at Prospect and Jackson in Rockford, Illinois just before 4:20 p.m.

A silver Dodge Charger with black tinted windows was pursued by police Friday afternoon on I-290, Route 53, I-90, US 20, Genoa Rd and numerous side streets in the Rockford area. The driver is wanted for aggravated fleeing and eluding. The driver is armed with a handgun and/or shotgun. The driver is also wanted for aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon by Forest Park police.

The gun was displayed toward another driver when the offending vehicle was pinned in traffic shortly into the pursuit.

The pursuit was initiated just before 3:15 p.m. Friday near Des Plaines Avenue and Cermak Road in Forest Park, Illinois.

The Dodge Charger was westbound 290 at Route 83 at about 3:25 p.m. and northbound I-290 at Thorndale at about 3:30 p.m.

Speeds of up to 100 mph on the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 90.

The vehicle and chase cars were at Interstate 90 mile post 26 3/4 at about 4:00 p.m.

The vehicle at exited I-90 at Genoa Road.

Vehicle westbound US 20 at near the Chrysler plant at 100 mph at 4:03 p.m.

[A trip from I-290 at Kingery Highway/Route 83 to the Chrysler Plant in Belvidere is normally a 76 minute trip compared to the 38 minute trip during the pursuit (link to map of segment of pursuit route)]

U.S. 20 and Perryville at 4:06 p.m.

U.S. 20 passing Mulford Rd at 4:07 p.m.

Charles St westbound from Mulford at 4:08

Charles St and Alpine at 4:09 p.m.

Newburg eastbound at 4:10 p.m. 80-90 mph.

Southbound Mulford Rd. at 4:11 p.m.

Charles St westbound at 4:12 p.m. silver Dodge Charger.

Passing Arnold Avenue 80-90 mph.

Approaching Alpine at 4:13 p.m.

Turning into Colonial Village Shopping Center at 4:14 p.m.

Northbound Alpine Rd at 4:14 p.m.

Northbound Alpine Rd to westbound East State St at 4:15 p.m.

Police terminated the pursuit with a crash at Prospect and Jackson in Rockford, Illinois just before 4:20 p.m. Two subjects in the vehicle were tackled and arrested.

Police involved in pursuit included Illinois State Police, Belvidere, Broadview, Forest Park, Kane County Sheriff, Cook County Sheriff and others.
