Dispatcher: A man with a semi-automatic weapon. He shot at people. He was last seen heading toward the Walgreen [sic]. We have a caller that believes that Gabrielle Giffords was shot.

The Pima County Sheriff’s office released radio transmissions of dispatchers to police during Saturday’s deadly Arizona shooting. The dispatcher says there are reports Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot along with multiple victims.

DISPATCHER … units a shooting … a shooting at the Safeway at Ina and Oracle, Oracle and Ina a man with a semi-automatic weapon. Units responding advise.

DISPATCHER: A caller’s reporting a shooting involved with a semi-automatic weapon. He shot at people and he was last seen headed toward the Walgreen [sic] he ran northbound out of the store wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, and we have a caller that believes that Gabrielle Giffords was shot. Multiple victims. Sounds like many people are shot. Suspects … I mean … let me re-phrase … customers have tackled the supsect. They are holding him down at the Safeway.

DISPATCHER: Units responding to the shooting

SHERIFF’S DEPUTY: 6-6-1 … He does not have the gun on him … it’s in the grass somewhere.

SHERIFF’S DEPUTY: 5-1-8 … Start multiple MED UNITS … people down. We have at least ten.

ADMIN (?): 1-0-3 … 10-4 … Start some ??? units please. How many victims do we have?

SHERIFF’S DEPUTY: We have multiple victims. We need a lot more units here.

DISPATCHER: And fire is sending everything they have.

ADMIN: 1-0-3 Foxborough, we have at least seven, eight, maybe ten gunshot wound victims here. We need OVPD (Oro Valley Police Department) here as well. We believe Gabrielle Giffords is here.

I need Canterbury units to start taking some calls in the foothills. In the meantime I need as many ??, Green Valley, Tucson?? units as possible. I need robbery and assault detectives called out. Please advise them we have multiple, multiple victims. You might as well send FAD … we are going to close down Ina and Oracle, and I need more units down here to shut down …
