Kyle Dieling, 27, of Elmhurst, and and off-duty Elmhurst police officer died in a traffic accident Saturday.
Kyle Dieling was traveling east on U.S. Route 6 in Homer Glen when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, exited the roadway, and hit a fixed object about one-quarter mile west of South Spring Meadows Drive.
Dieling was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Illinois State Police Joliet District 5 officers are investigating the incident.
