Chicago-Arlington Heights Snowfall: New: 1.5 Inches, Snow Cover 4.5 Inches

A total of 1.5 inches of new light snow fell from Monday just before 7:45 a.m. until Tuesday about 2:15 a.m. in Arlington Heights. Snow was considerably wetter after 1:00 pm. Monday, and mixed with sleet. Small amounts of ice accumulated on the pavement by 6:00 p.m. Monday. Snow cover at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday was 4.5 inches in Arlington Heights. Accumulation on pavement was 1.5 inches of snow. The final wet snow and sleet made snow very wet and heavy — especially for snow shoveling.

At 7:00 a.m. precipitation is east of northwest Indiana, and moving northeast as rain. The snow line is located in south-central Michigan.
