The body of a female American tourist, bound and with multiple stab wounds, was found Sunday near a road outside Jerusalem, police said. They identified the slain woman as Christine Logan, but had no further details on her age or hometown.

Fellow hiker and friend Susan Kaye Wilson reported, “Christine and I walked down a path in order to climb a small hill. We sat there, and two Arabs passed by and asked ‘Do you have any water?’ I said, ‘I wish.” Wilson told Israeli TV. “I felt something was wrong. I turned to (Christine) in English and told her something doesn’t feel right and that we should return to the path.”

Pretended to Be Dead
Susan Kaye Wilson told police that two men of Arab descent attacked her and Logan while they were hiking at an archaeological site. Asked how she survived the attack, Wilson said that she pretended to be dead until the offenders left. She then fled the scene and ran toward to the main road crying for help.

Hundreds of police officers, Israel Defense Forces soldiers and volunteers descended on the area where Christine was last seen. She was found bound with her hands behind her back, and stabbed multiple times Saturday in a mountainous area outside of Jerusalem.

Officials are now under a gag order regarding details of the attack and search results.

Hikers have been attacked before in this area in the 1990’s. Four Israelis were attacked and killed near the West Bank.
