Elk Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:10 p.m. to a truck-minivan crash at Elmhurst Road and Greenleaf. The driver of the minivan, Zeferino Carnargo was transported by Elk Grove Village firefighter/paramedics to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where he was pronounced dead.
A 2001 Volvo truck driven by a Phoenix man was southbound on Elmhurst Road and crossing the intersection at Greenleaf when the truck and a 1999 Plymouth minivan driven by Carnargo collided. Carnargo was apparently turning the minivan from eastbound Greenleaf to Northbound Elmhurst Road.
The fatal vehicle crash is under investigation.
